New York Embroidery Studio began in Manhattan’s Garment District more than 30 years ago, not in medical manufacturing, but as a small creative studio focused on specialized embellishment. Our early years were defined by couture embroidery, technical artistry, and working closely with designers who needed craftsmanship at the highest level.
For decades, that work shaped our identity. We were makers, innovators, problem solvers — driven by precision, beauty, and engineering.
When the pandemic struck, New York was in crisis. Hospitals were running out of gowns. Supply chains collapsed. Critical materials were stuck overseas. Within days, we were asked by the State of New York to help.
We became the first essential business, turned our operation inside out and rebuilt it for a new purpose. We opened an 100,000 square foot facility at the Brooklyn Army Terminal. We grew our workforce by the hundreds. We installed advanced ultrasonic welding lines. We ran production around the clock. And we produced millions of medical gowns at a moment when the country urgently needed supply.
What started as an emergency response became a defining change in the direction of our company. The pivot wasn’t temporary. We expanded our capability, our responsibility, and the impact we could make.
Today, NYES remains rooted in the fashion and embellishment work that built our reputation, and we also stand as a large-scale domestic manufacturer helping strengthen America’s medical supply chain for the future.
